Ok, seriously, Poles?  This is why Americans make Polish jokes.   If it’s not the reason, maybe it should be.   When many countries are on their way to LEGALIZING online casino and online gambling sites, we found out Tuesday that Poland is on their way to ILLEGALIZING them.  While I’m not sure that’s a word, I am quite sure that placing a ban on casino games in 2009 is de-evolution.  It’s devolution!  (Is that a word?)

It’s true-the Polish government said yes to a draft of a law restricting casino operations in Poland.  While it’s not yet completely clear what this would mean, online casino sites would definitely be hit the hardest, with no new permits being given to potential casino operators.  Part of the law would increase taxes on existing Polish casinos and video lotteries would be banned, meaning slot machines would be the last remaining option.  What the hell, Poles?  SLOTS???  My GRANDMOTHER plays slots!

I know nothing’s final (to go into effect, it needs to be passed by the president and parliament both) but what’s with a Western country who’s a member of the European Union doing something which just seems too democratic?  Yo, Poles-we just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down.  You really want to build a proverbial wall blocking online poker in the name of….I don’t know what?

Everybody knows that despite the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the USA, people still get their fix of online casino games one way or another.  That’s the beauty of the internet.  Freedom always wins; you can’t bottle it up.  Give a man a mouse and he’ll find a way to play online poker.  Or something like that.

Now where was I?  Oh yeah….two Poles walk into a bar.
